How-to

How to remove background noise from a video (in about 2 minutes).

Free, no signup, no watermark, and no quality loss. Works on any modern browser — laptop, tablet or phone.

Step 1 — Open CleanCast Video

Head to cleancast.xyz/video. No signup, no download. It works on Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox.

Step 2 — Drop your file in

Drag your video into the drop zone (MP4, MOV, WEBM, MKV — up to 2 GB). It loads into your browser's memory. There is no upload. If you disconnect your internet at this point, the app still works.

Step 3 — Choose noise strength

Use the strength slider. A few practical presets:

  • 50–65% — light hiss or hum. Preserves natural room tone.
  • 70–85% — most everyday recordings. The sweet spot.
  • 90–100% — heavy wind, traffic, or fan noise. Voice can start to sound slightly processed.

Step 4 — Clean and export

Click Clean & export. CleanCast extracts the audio, strips the noise, then rebuilds your video with the clean audio and the original video stream — untouched. 4K stays 4K.

You'll get a download button for the final video. Preview the before/after with the A/B toggle before you save.

Why this works so well

CleanCast uses an open-source neural denoiser trained specifically on the noises that ruin most recordings: fan/AC hum, wind, keyboard clatter, distant traffic, and room echo. It runs entirely on your device using WebAssembly, so it's fast and private.

FAQ

Does CleanCast lower my video quality?

No. The video stream is copied bit-for-bit — 1080p stays 1080p, 4K stays 4K. Only the audio track is replaced with the cleaned version.

How big a video can I clean?

Up to about 2 GB on a modern laptop. Older phones will handle less. Everything is limited by your device's memory, not our servers.

Can I clean a video on my iPhone?

Yes. Open cleancast.xyz in Safari on iOS, tap the Video tab and drop your file in. The AI runs on your phone.

Does it work on iPhone screen recordings and Zoom videos?

Yes. MP4, MOV, WEBM and MKV files all work. Zoom recordings tend to have room noise that CleanCast cleans up especially well.
